SOCIAL MEDIA YES …BUT JOURNALISTS TOO!

Well, The question is, do we still need journalists in the age of social media? Not
an easy one, isn’t it?
With
the increasing amount of different social media out there, we are called to
think whether we still need journalists or not. If this question was asked to
me, I would answer it with a YES. And you, how would you tackle it?
I
would rather say yes because a journalist’s task in or outside the studio is
not the same as the one of social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest
and more others. Social media mostly need journalists and also particular
people or even PR people in order for it to function. Please stop me if I am
wrong! We are all informed about what is happening around the globe because of
media people like journalists who sometimes can work independently of a certain
company out there to gather information or they can still work dependently of a
certain firm (
It
is true that most people or in this case social media people can easily rely on
social media in order for them to get informed. But indeed we still need
journalists, most of those factual information comes from journalists who can
still post them on social media in order for them to stay in communication with
their fans or readers. I think we understand each other.
Therefore social media cannot do without journalists and if you allow me I can even say that the two have mutual roles and they complete each other by the way journalists posts most of their information on social media and social media also need journalists in order for it to spread those posts toward the rest of the world as social media can facilitate the access of information from different places in order for users to get informed. WELL…. This is my own point of view.
Social media has really served a greater purpose as part of the modern age therefore since we now leave in the world powered by both technology and social media, I would say that it is now social media against journalistic form. Therefore in my own point of view , I would have to say that journalists should focus more on social media meaning that; they should do most of their work on social media in order to balance of both the world of technology (social media) and print media to keep the public informed on their daily basis regarding news events that has occurred.

DeleteI say yes we do still need journalists in the age of social media, they provide credible information all the time. what they need to do is to catch up with technology and be active in social media, engage in the conversations that are in the social media channels.

DeleteI think we need journalists but because is on social media networks, Journalism will soon take a back seat and not be relevant. Remember that we are living in a word that's constantly changing. So what may be relevant then, may not be in the next future.
